Hey everybody,
Ive been working on the Lockheed L -188 Electra. This is the four engine turboprop passenger plane they developed in the early 1950s. It was the platform for the P-3 Orion.
The model flies well, even though it has no instruments on the panel. It has Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engines instead of the correct Allison T56 501-D13 turboprops. My guess is that since the Allison engines have never been designed in an xml file they went with a rough equivalent. It's frustrating because the Double Wasps do not provide the authentic level of performance of the Allisons. The plane cannot fly as fast or as high according to specs. Although, it will be okay for tour if it has to.
Ive been working on converting the engines to the Allisons, but have hit a snag. I dont know how to revise the nasal files. It's taken a lot of research, but has been much fun.
Right now when I attempt to run the aircraft, it starts to load getting all the way to the scenery sequence, then it just crashes.
I can fly the original model on Jan 30, but would love to have the authentic engines if someone is willing to help me get them up and running.
On a side note, I'll be flying using the beautiful Braniff International Airways livery IAHM-COL created for the plane. It's shiny and so very stylish!
