I noted a change in speed. Not a dramatic change, but it runs better.

I also have to second JWocky and Israel and suggest you to try linux. Do you have a USB-stick? If so, you can easily install a nice distro on it using LiLi and try it out. It looks nice, runs much faster and has the open-source though inside :D
