Free Flight, Free Speech

As some of you may know I own a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

I've given a listen to many of the sounds all over FG's large repository(ies) of aircraft and there is lots of original content that immerses me in the game and sounds wonderful.

But some of the content is not original at all.

I am here to say as I said many months ago about the Fokker 100. I am here to make an accusation of someone, somehow, stealing a sound wav from FSX and redistributing it as "GPL" content. I do not want FGMEMBERS or the "creator" of these sounds to be viable to be persecuted by copyright law.

The stolen sound is as follows:



The gen-start.wav and lan1strt.wav from Patten's (at least I think it's patten I'm not exactly sure) CitX and the FSX CRJ700 respectively are almost an exact match. The gen.wav is also a takeout from that file. I sincerely hope that some action will be taken against this infringement.

Looks like proof, and needs sorting.... however have you checked if there's an fgaddon version.

Also which is the original.... and why not the same length ?

The Citation X by Patten may not be in FGADDon,

The Fokker100 is definitely the same in both FGMEMBERS and FGADDon

I am not a sound guy, so this need checking, and if possible, to know which exact files need removal.

@bomber lan1strt is the original, and gen_start is shorter because he cut the end off.
@IAHM-COL the files that need to be removed are gen_start.wav and gen.wav.

On the Citation X? on the Fokker? on both?

Citation X. I was talking about the Fokker 100 because I revealed an infringement in it earlier. The Fokker has nothing to do with this.

Yeah so do I I steal som wav sound form the 777 and put it to FG it sound a bit better but of course only privately use. And I paid for it.

I'm pretty sure it's fine if it's only for personal use, but redistributing copyrighted content as GPL is out of the question. It's illegal.

I have nothing against you or how you change your FG for your personal use, nor what content you use to do so.

Please forgive a somewhat dumb question, but how have you figured out which file came first as well as what the original source/recording is from?
