About that suicide, IIRC that was Pavlin who said that, and Pavlin has said that many times against all his so called "enemies" (including me and others). I do think that needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Goading someone to commit suicide has recently been punished with jail time in the US. It's a very serious allegation. I don't put it beyond Pavlin to just say something stupid, but I can't find anything related to it on the forum, so it would probably be smart to not throw out allegations like that without some evidence along with it.

I'll see if I can find the thread back. He has also said it many times on discord... To be clear, it was Pavlin hinself that said he was going to commit suicide, and the reason he gave were all his enemies. But he has said that many, many times... IMO, if he would just be a bit nicer he would have been accepted more by some people, but he refuses to do so, instead he just continues to say this and that, and atm it has become a bit old, so nobody blinks an eye about it.

Thats the post. You are probably better off reading the entire topic first tho.

If you do that you'll quickly get an understanding that English isn't his first language.

At which point you'd think in polite society you'd take that into account when comprehending what's he's writen and when replying.

I don't see that having taken place.... but not to worry as he's not longer a member of the forum.

Highlighting this post as an example just goes to show how pig ignorant some people are.

Specially if Pavlin had used multiple FG channels (like the Curtis' Flightgear forum and discord), to express sentiments of suicide, I think there is a more compassionate path to take.

Instead of either not taking the challenge seriously, simply ignoring him, play a support-one-or-the-other characters in conflict, or locking a topic where a person is venting (and releasing) some frustation. Just if for the sake of "better safe than sorry", he should be given guidance over professional helplines that he can look for.

For Pavlin, I particularly would suggest:

http://www.suicide.org/hotlines/international/croatia-suicide-hotlines.html
http://www.plavi-telefon.hr/

Hopefully, he'd met there people qualified to determine the seriousness of his challenges, and to give proper help when, or if needed.

Best,

You know it is not serious when afterwards you get messages from other people saying that he is trying scare people. About the language barier: he knows well enough English (especially when speaking to him on voice) to understand that his tone isn't exactly the nicest one. Not to forget he then still becomes angry at everything that is said to him. An other example was when he posted a video, and someone gave constructive criticism, or more like a tip for the next vid, he became angry, insulted that person, and got extremely upset and angry when other people told him that the guy was only trying to help (which was very clear). All in all he just tries to be the king of everything, and gets angry at everyone who has a different opinion. And the language barrier is not so big that he can't understand this.

One man's constructive criticism is another man's insulting someone hardwork.

I'm regularly accused of insulting by Thorsten if I make any comments or attempt to offer flight modelling advice.

But don't worry about it i'm sure others will pm you explaining how wrong anyone else is..

Well, the messages I sometimes see from you to Thorsten are a bit harsh sometimes, or the argument can get a little heated... But that's another story. About the constructive criticism part, yes, I know individual peeps can interpret stuff differently, but in this case everyone agreed it was meant as a nice and helpfull comment, the guy even started off by saying he liked the video a lot, and just gave a small tip to even get a better video next time. I always try to be helpfull to everyone, including Pavlin, but at some point, when someone insults me too much, I don't care about him/her anymore, so yes, if someone had suicide problems I would of course try to help them, and yes I asked Pavlin about it too, but when you get insulted too much by that same person (who is just a random on the interwebs I am trying to help), I am not going to spend my time doing that anymore, as the only thing I get back is a few bad words. Especially if other people tell you he is just saying it as a joke/trying to scare people, IMO that even crosses a line, as you should not be joking with things as suicide or sickness etc...

PS: I am not defending/attacking anyone, just giving my view on the matter.

Possibly an indication to his depression being objectively real?
