Hi folks,

Stumbled upon the American Airlines "Astrojet" livery a while back and well, 400 layers ( ) later... here we go:

One interesting part are the colorful ailerons and elevator:

Here's what they look like in real life:

One tough part was that the liveries were incredibly inconsistent in real life... Each plane is slightly different and has some different elements. So my livery is a bit of a mashup

Another tough part was trying to get the metallic reflection effect and learning how to use the model combined effect (esp. the greymap). Thankfully the documentation was pretty good. I'm still working on it though...

I'm fixing a few minor details and then I'll upload it to github.

Next, I plan to do the slightly different version of this with the newer AA logo and the Airfreight version. Maybe even the 757 retro version since a lot of the elements are similar...

Bonus:

While researching the livery I stumbled upon some really fun old ads from the era:

There are plenty more if you search on google :)
