Free Flight, Free Speech

Hi Guys! I am thinking about starting a long-haul world tour. We will start in Dubai (OMDB) and proceed on to the world. This tour will be done on the VATSIM network and seeing as how there is a way for all of you to no connect to VATSIM thanks to SHM, I know that everyone has the capability to make the flight if they so choose. It is my understanding that You will show up on the network as 744s,and Honestly, that is the equipment that I would recommend for this tour. Our legs will be upwards of 6 hrs, with our longest leg being Dubai to Keflavik, ~4000 NMI. I hope to see your responses and know those who are willing. As of right now, it is only a proposal, hence the poll. I do not have my Flight computer with me currently. I should have it by Friday of this week.

What do you have against these?
VATSIM is just a MP network with realistic ATC. Discord is the love child of Team speak and Skype. basically mumble on steroids.

For those who are voting no, Could you please explain your reasoning? I am quite curious on your thought process on choosing. The reason there are no dates posted is because I want to see what percentage of the community will be willing to participate. I will post the dates after August 30th.

My reasons:
A) Probably when the event will be held school will be restarted for me, so much less time to spend on FG.
B) If times are US-centered, no way I can make it also because the legs are way too long for my available time.
C) VATSIM doesn't work on my old Mac and I have my ideas about not using that for FG because multiplayer is developed by people who spend their time to improve the system in FG so I don't like doing away with that. And even if you can tell me that yet you have to use MP to connect to VATISM, it is only a way to get in there. I personally think that it'd be more interesting to gather people more on the actual multiplayer environment in FlightGear, which is lacking of online pilots lately. And I will not change my point of view on this matter, as I've already stated many times.

But, I think your event is a nice idea and I'm sorry I won't be able to attend.

@Falcon that is true for me too. By 16-17Z the event should atleast start.

Have you ever tried to run VATSIM before saying it wont work? If yes, what was the problem



And the reason why Falcon is running the event on the VATSIM server is because he has moved onto X-Plane.

The software wasn't supported for OS X 10.6.8.
