Actually my experience with the LSGG Geneva city .ac sections is that they ate a lot of my frame rate and (or) caused a bunch of game crashes, because of their polygon load. I mean lets be realistic here, the scenery is great, but you've added what, 20 to 50 megs, of additional individual structures to the scene?

It was causing slowdowns and big lags when flying in from LFGA, 109 NautMiles to the North, usually within about 18 N-Miles of Geneva would start the adverse effects, sometimes locking my sim up for 30 seconds at a time.

You know my machine isn't all the slow, even though it's running XP32 bit.

So this 'optimization' is a bit questionable.

Yes. I heard you Lesbof.
At this point I found your situation at least controversial, and definitely can't explain it. Others with much much more lower specs (they run 7 fps on a bare --non scenery Geneve) had no impact on performance when full fledged.

So; that's something to explore.

Use either terrasync, or this
https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-SCENERY/LSGG-fg-CustomScenery/archive/no-osm2city.zip
to compare the same scenery with no OSM2City buildings, and see if that makes any difference

(to begin pimpointing possible causes)

I am way ahead of you on this. I picked out the largest of the .ac files, the ones approaching 1 meg or larger in size in the .stg's, and remarked them ..(#).. out in the text. I'll fly in from LFGA again and see what gives.

I'm still having random game crashes, removed the fountain at Lake Geneva as it seems looking in it's direction triggers some of these.

@d-lasr

I know the grand hangar is a bit on the tall side, but I did so with intent. It's made such that jafva pilots can enter there even using an A380

IRL, it fits byzz jets quite well, and maybe small 7x7's like the 737's can probably go in comfortably

You mean we can go inside the hangars? Any of them?

For the record, my (7 fps) framerate was not affected in any way by adding the airport buildings. The OSM2city caused a drop by 2-3. Still flyable.
IAHM-COL, if you know how to do it, could you possibly optimize other areas, too?

@simbambin

Yes. There are a handful of hangars with open doors and you can taxi inside. Most all of those in GA are open. Some solar hangar are open and you can roll a tiny aircraft there, but it is hard to distinguish close from open solars.

The grand hangar is rather grand. The height of the door allows an A380 to roll in but will leave the tail hanging out. Regular sized airliners will fully fit in.

For helicopter look for the dragonpad :)
