IAHM-COL wrote:TerraGIT undergoing re-engineering steps

TerraGIT is undergoing a big re-engineering improving. I had successfully found a solution to a couple of problems:

1. Tile boundaries seams when a new airport is decoded and implanted to terraGIT do not occur anymore
2. Download size of terraGIT (will be effectively reduced by a factor larget than a half)

I am completing the necessary steps to do a WorldWide re-engineering process. At the same time, I used improved collection of roads (main highways), lakes, rivers, and coastlines (Worldwide).
Also, the terrain now, with the correctives applied to terragear, build a more lightweight scenery *that requires much less computational resources* than that present in the terrasync content, but without compromising (majorly) aesthetics.

I have completed all the India territory for a first test run.
The construction includes all airports updated to the gateway as per the X-plane release 10.51, which correspond to airports with updated layouts accepted (and recommended) before Sept 1st 2016. Much newer airports are expected to be updated with each subsequent X-Plane release.

Important: since this include a re=engineering of terraGIT, if you already installed these tiles before, you MUST use the command
git submodule sync, as indicated below.

Installation of the New India

1. Requires a full copy of terraGIT (with git software)

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-TERRAGIT/terraGIT.git

(this is about 1.2 GB of content only -- without any scenery tile)

Begin in Number 2 if you already have terraGIT in your computer!
2. Then, I recommend you install India with the included installing script

Code: Select all

cd terraGIT
git pull
git submodule sync
install/India

Could someone post this update at the other forum after mutilation so that the mods are happy?

What's best is that a lot of new airports are being currently improved on their layouts.
I recommend SM to continue his efforts so we can have a more complete India on the next generation effort :D

IAHM-COL:
Interesting project!
What hardware do you use ?

1. Tile boundaries seams when a new airport is decoded and implanted to terraGIT do not occur anymore
2. Download size of terraGIT (will be effectively reduced by a factor larget than a half)

and how did you do that ?

You did only the south half on India ?
That would explain that rivers look good in some areas and not so good in other areas.
(Taj Mahal in Agra is still in the water)
What was you data source for rivers ?

Currently only 3 project3000 airports in India :-(

Hi D-LASER
All of the following tiles were fully reconstructed in this India reconstruction. The hardware so far is my computer. I didn't take more than 2 hrs to get all tiles but I kind of cheated my hardware a bit and it did overclock.
