Festival of FlightGear 2016 (Spring) -- Japan Coordination

Hi guys...

This here's a topic regarding coordinating all scenery developing efforts.

I think we should try to develop at least the top 5 here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_t ... s_in_Japan

I will check the TerraSync vs WED, and if the WED is noticeably better, does anyone have a spare hour to generate it?

By the way, all the .dats I'm doing are in the backup_WED folder of my SVMI project at http://www.github.com/legoboyvdlp/SVMI-fg-CustomScenery.
(No better place right now, sorry...)

* Fixes and Navaids - maybe we can interest simbambim?

Who's doing what?
WED WORK

RJOT, RJOS, RJAA -- SM
Kansai, Chebu -- IH-COL
Chitose, Chebu -- YV-LEGO

RJBD, RJOY, RJBK, RJOB - open, many others too!

Shared Models: YV-LEGO did Fukuoka, uploading to TerraSync shortly

Custom, Static Models: none in Japan, only Hamad has some, missing INTL TERMINAL at Hamad.
IH-COL doing Kansai

VERDICTS

Chubu Centrair -- Needs Generated, layout built by YV-LEGO

Tokyo Haneda --
Modelling: Fairly good... could benefit from some nicely placed shared models
Layout: Very good

Chitose --
Layout (Custom): Very nice
Modelling: With OSM + Project 3000, very nice. Consider doing all 6 major airports with OSM? Frame rate friendly, yet well developed.

Kansai --
Layout: Poor, needs done
Modelling: IH-COL in charge of project

Fukuoaka -
Nice layout, shared models placed make it nice,
Has OSM.

Narita
No models, poor layout. Requires generation. I think SHM is working on Narita, too?

I think this is a great idea, but it is too much work.
For the level of detail I like to work on, Kansai is probably much of what I can handle, so 5 or 6 airports is overkill.
But on the other hand, basic development (shared stuff, OSM, and Project 300, maybe new WED layouts) sounds definitely an effort very loable for the following festival.

On this order of ideas, I was thinking that we can get the airports with new or updated layouts in the gateway, that also have 3D available (and thus they are in the Project 3000). Maybe with help of D-LASER, and Lego, we can make a scenery pack to include development of these. Furthermore, when possible, at a later stage uploading to terrasync is the goal. Basically, it is very hard to expect that for the Festival people will relay onto install optional packages, and thus, it is ideal to have the development be terrasynced.

Here is the map of the airports that DO have
1) new layout in x-plane gateway, and
2) 3D development in the xplane gateway apt.dat and thus,
3) exist in the Project 3000 or can be made (with D-LASER's help)

From North to South: New Chitose (RJCC, Legoboy's Project), Sendai (RJSS), Tokyo Narita (RJAA, SHM indicated his intention to join this effort), Miho (RJT2), Kobe (RJBE -- it will be included in the Kansai-Osaka development with IAHM-COL's project), Miyazaki (RJFM).

@Lego: Don't waste effort here. I am doing this WED layout already. (no need to double work ;) )

If you want to join in a team to dev. Kansai, surely let me know. But 3D work is what's coming to be needed now.

I'll submit to the gateway in a few days (maybe a week) now.
The layout is coming very complete and detaild.

OTOH, if you want to join in a WED effort to make a better Osaka Bay (where Kansai Intl.) is located a better place for small VFR hoppings on the festival, these list of airports are a definite great task to attack:

(all within the surrounding of Osaka Bay, with no or extremely poor airport layout)

RJOT, RJOS, RJBD, RJOY, RJBK, RJOB

Others: RJBB (Kansai -- in progress by IH-COL), RJBE (Looks great already), RJOO (Looks good already)

@SHM -- You mentioned me that you can do WED? I'll be happy if you join on any of the ones listed below (RJOT -- RJOB, too)

Exactly!
Basic development is all that is necessary.

But, Israel, you should add Chebu Centrair and RJCJ to that list :)

[size=100]
LEGO'S development:

Current:
Chebu Centrair WED
Chitose (both airports) WED and OSM/P3000 for the civillian airport, WED for military.

Intentions:
Do OSM for Tokyo area?
Tastefully add shared models to major airports, along with P3000.
Help in Kansai and Narita.

Oh, as for Kansai, those tasks are just a quick list, absolutely not complete, of what is available to do on Japan scenery for people. Will cross it off ;)

Add something to the list:

Fix navaids and fixes. (Lots of navaids don't even exist in the database), all across the RJUU airspace.

Code: Select all

I know Simbambin is really great at this, but we had the problem that Lydiot rudeness and impoliteness make her loose all interest in FG as a project and as a community, and I don't know how to make her regain the same level of involvement she had on Switzerland/Austria. (bummer)
