Flightgear creates a personal settings directory "flightgear.org" somewhere in your home directory. In windows that is in:

/users/<username>/appdata/roaming/flightgear.org

The "appdata" directory is hidden, so to see it you must turn "show hidden files" on.

I forgot the name, but it does not matter, it is just the file with extension pid. (If you have "show extensions" on in windows). If it really is not there, then this is not the problem you have.

If you do that, you need to fix the url of the metar in the fgfs executable, or if on windows, replace fgfs.exe with the one mentioned here:

Else you will not have live weather.

I haven't tested 2016.3.1 yet but i contributed doing some scenery work near Santos-Dumont airport, 40 objects aprox, mostly high-rise buildings, and placed a lot of shared objs. in the near smaller aerodromes. You can see now a beautiful downtown skyline from the runway. Maybe i'll test the new version this weekend.

I just found out about a cute new functionality of the pid file. If it does not crash you anymore, it at least helps you to prevent terrasync to work.

So if you have any problem, first of all look for the pid file when flightgear is *not* running. If it exists in that case, then remove it.
