MD-10 (Skyboat's)

Well, I would like to add to my already long list of projects the MD-10. It is nice so far, but I think I have found some things that need urgent attention. First a quick question:
A big problem with the plane is the nose wheel. It steers way to much, turn the rudder fully fully causes it to spin around 3 or 4 times???? Does anyone know why that could be? It is quite hard to steer with that thing like that.

Another things is the autothrottle causes engines to be stuck at 100% while on and then even when turned off. That is a ungood. I think that I may be able to sort that out on my own though, as I think I found the problem!

I am planning to swap malfuncting displays out, that engine screen looks very strange! As do the nav screen, PFD is not bad. I will also move standby instruments to (hopefully) their proper position.

If anyone wishes to colaberate, I am in mumble usually under "ATC411 Lounge" or "ATC411 Workshop".

Yes, let's take a look at it and see how the MD-11 glass cockpit works. I also have information on the nose gear situation that I think may help solve your problem. I can also share with you a couple of other things that need fixed or added to see if you can do those.

I'm happy to have you working on the MD-10!

I have found and fixed the steering issue, works great now. the MD-11 glass cockpit would not paste in, so we manually can copy some screens. I am trying to get in the EICAS first. Read post below.

Well guys, there is some funny problem with the DC-10 (and therefore MD-10). This causes the MD-11 displays to be to have a corrupted look to them. I don't know why yet, but I am testing some stuffs to find out. found the issue, read my later posts.

Hmmm. Do you think there is any interference with Rembrandt either being enabled or disabled?

I will try that, thanks! IN the MD-11 it work with Rembrandt on or off, so maybe I am missing a dependency?

I know this is quite late, but:

I found the issue. The displays heavily use some values of the FDM, I would need to modify which values to use from the current FDM.

I have decided to build my own MD-10-10 model which is here: http://thejabberwocky.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=372
Not perfect, still in development.

If Skyboat wants, I can continue working on his project as well, as they are different aircraft. I simply wanted to give it a try from the MD-11 side of things, importing the DC-10 model and FDM, while making the proper adjustments to both to work with the MD-11 systems.

So SkyBoat, if you want, I would love to keep working on your MD-10! Yours is also a MD-10-30, while mine is a MD-10-10. (Couldn't get center gear to appear) If both are worked on, then FGFS will have both models :)

Regards,

Hi-- I think you have a good idea. FlightGear needs an authentic MD-10, which your MD-10-10 represents as the FedEx MD-10.

What I have always had in mind was an VIP or "green" MD-10, one which was customized to a given customer's wants and needs. The designation of that as the MD-10-30 is actually a good idea. I would like to have you work more on my MD-10, but I'd like to have us talk about what I want changed from the DC-10-30ER and what I'd like left. We also need to look at what has just been done to the new upgrades to the DC-10-30 and see if the changes to that model might contain some features that would be good to have for both yours and my MD-10s (Like you might find the way to get the center gear to operate. Wouldn't that be nice? And on my MD-10, the long trim no longer works and needs to be fixed, so perhaps the dependencies to that are there, as well).

So, let us work together. Like I said, I have a list of things I'd like to have added to my MD-10, but a few things kept the same from the DC-10-30.

Thanks for asking!

@Skyboat

After reading your thread on the "god" forum, "Updating and Retrofitting the DC-10-30ER" This is what I wanted to as well, as a fellow Douglas Trijet fan. Feel free to come on Mumble to my channel -- and we can discuss the details.

Regards,
