747SP

I was wondering if anyone wanted to cut the middle section of the 747-200 and shorten the wings a bit, to create the 747 "Special Performance" here is a picture of one. https://img.planespotters.net/photo/220 ... 220220.jpg

oh yeah! and 747SP!!! That'll be great to have :P

But its more than just the 3d model. IIRC, this plane has the longest range of all 747 family, so it smells like teen spirit FDM changes

Is anyone going to be building this, or should I add it to my work list...

Where have gone all the developers? Over half the planes are abandoned!

A bit more background info: I got this idea from seeing the Las Vegas Sands Corporation's two 747SP's land at KCMA for the Camarillo airshow a while back. Honestly those of us on the ground were surprised that something that massive could land on our 6,000 ft runway. Even more when it took off, with about 3000 ft to spare! Needless to say it was one of the few rare times that a "heavy" aircraft has ever landed at KCMA since WWII, when the airport was built. Anyway I got to thinking, "Why not have one of these beauties for FG?". and that brings us to where we are now. About 3 years after the airshow when those birds landed, and a long time of trying, i decided to hand it over to one of the "Professional" 3D modelers here in the FG community.

I wish I knew how to 3D model aircraft. I can do instruments, and I can build the plane, but I cannot for the life of me build the airframe model!

I got a new 3D Modeler, so I am now available. I am working on the 767-400ER first, then this.

Well I found a man on the official forum that is modeling this plane for me, so it looks like we finally will have a 747SP!

The length is ok now, but the tail end not completely yet. Also cleaned the 747 model a bit (removed all unneeded stuff). And also made the cockpit windows transparant, in the old model they were just UV-mapped with the model. And maybe if I got time left next week I'll make the Boeing 747SP SOFIA (probably only the model) also:Image
